Cyclist Tragically Lost in SW Calgary Collision
This afternoon, southwest Calgary saw a heart-wrenching incident at the bustling intersection of 17 Avenue S.W. and 101 Street S.W. At around 3:40 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, a collision resulted in the death of a male cyclist in his 40s. A Land Rover driven by a man in his 70s was making a left turn when it struck the cyclist, who was traveling through the crosswalk on his e-bike. Despite the somber outcome, it's noteworthy that alcohol, drugs, and excessive speed were not factors, making this a complex case under investigation. The driver remained on the scene and was unharmed. The Calgary Police continue to seek information, inviting the community to provide tips via 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers.
