Calgary Cash Caper: Man Charged with Printing Phony Dough!

Hold onto your hats, Calgary! A 19-year-old local, Tinevimbo Gandawa, is facing serious charges after police discovered nearly $60,000 in fake Canadian bills at a northwest Calgary residence. This money was allegedly used at various businesses between July 10 and 15, 2025, and even to buy an iPhone through an online ad. The law caught up with him on August 28 when police executed a search warrant and seized the counterfeit cash and an imitation firearm. Gandawa went on the run, but his two-hour negotiation standoff, hopping through neighbor’s yards, ended in his arrest on September 9. He’s now facing charges including manufacturing and using counterfeit currency, weapon possession, and breaking and entering. His next court date is set for September 17. This is kind of interesting because every fake bill pulled equals less crime fuel, as noted by Staff Sgt. Kerry Smith. Kudos to Calgary officers for clearing the air in our western town! Got tips? Ring up 403-266-1234 or drop a dime through Crime Stoppers' channels.
