Calgary’s tech scene is heating up, and you’re invited to the party! From November 3-6, Calgary Innovation Week 2025 is set to celebrate the city’s booming entrepreneurial spirit, with the University of Calgary's Hunter Hub for Entrepreneurial Thinking proudly participating as a presenting sponsor. It’s a showcase of cutting-edge technology and creativity right here in our backyard, pushing UCalgary closer to its vision of becoming "Canada's most entrepreneurial university."
This isn't just another event; it’s a critical moment for our city. Calgary has earned its spot as North America's fastest-growing tech talent market, experiencing a massive 78% increase in tech employment between 2018 and 2023. Our local tech ecosystem has pumped an impressive $8.1 billion into Calgary’s economy from July 2021 to December 2023 alone. This dynamic growth is a cornerstone of Calgary’s economic diversification strategies, like the "Uplook" plan, which projects 187,000 new jobs and $28 billion in economic activity by 2034.
The Platform Innovation Centre will serve as headquarters for the week, connecting innovators, students, and tech enthusiasts. The festivities culminate on November 6 with the 15th annual Launch Party, spotlighting Calgary’s Top 10 most promising startups. It’s a direct answer to the week’s theme: "Why Calgary?"
