Carbon Monoxide Scare in Taradale: A Wake-Up Call

Here's one we spotted on the City Of Calgary Fire Scanner! Shortly before 2:00 pm on October 6, 2025, Calgary fire crews rushed to a Taradale home in response to a carbon monoxide issue. The incident occurred on the 100-200 block of Taralake Way NE, where two families were feeling unwell after returning from medical checks the previous day. CO levels soared to a dangerous 172 ppm when the furnace was turned on. ATCO recorded peaks of 500 ppm, prompting a shut-off of the gas line. Four adults and a child were hospitalized but are in stable condition. This event serves as a stark reminder for Calgarians to install carbon monoxide alarms, crucial for safety, especially during winters when furnace use is high. The City of Calgary emphasizes that CO alarms should be on every level of a home, focusing near bedrooms. Stay informed and prepared to ensure a safe environment for your loved ones.
