This comes right from the City of Calgary News Room—Calgary’s Mayor Jyoti Gondek declares October 6, 2025, as Green Sports Day. This initiative highlights the power of sport in building healthier, sustainable communities. Calgarians are encouraged to donate used sports gear, fostering accessibility and eco-friendly practices. Already, over 15,000 pieces of equipment have been redistributed to over 3,300 children in 2025. The Calgary Flames Sports Bank leads with nine collection locations and has teamed up with Sport Calgary and others to make this day impactful for all. By reducing waste through equipment reuse, Calgary supports local children and promotes sustainability. Join this national movement and make a difference right here at home!
