In Calgary, a contentious debate has erupted over UCP MLA Dale Nally's handling of a recall application. The issue centers on claims that Nally audited voting records to disqualify an applicant, Joshua Eberhart, and removed statements from Elections Alberta's website. Nally's letter suggested that Eberhart, allegedly a proxy for the activist group Alberta Resistance, does not vote in provincial elections. This sparked concerns that recall legislation is being politically manipulated. Alberta's Recall Act, however, does not require voting history for initiating a recall. The Act mandates that applicant and member statements be published, but there is no indication they can be removed once approved.
