Key Fob Trouble at Market Mall: Beware of Signal Jammers!

Calgary shoppers, a new alert is out from Market Mall. On November 3rd, 2025, several individuals reported their key fobs failed to lock their vehicles in the same area of the parking lot. Their fobs resumed normal function only after they left the vicinity.

Authorities suspect these incidents were the work of a signal jammer, a device used by criminals to block the signal from a key fob, preventing a car from locking even when the owner presses the button. Thieves exploit this, waiting for drivers to walk away believing their car is secured, then easily entering the unlocked vehicle to steal belongings.

This type of theft is a growing concern, with some reports indicating signal manipulation accounts for a significant percentage of vehicle thefts in other regions. These jamming devices are readily available online.
