Calgary's Big Drug Bust: What Went Down and Who's Involved
Calgary Police Shut Down Major Drug Operation in Forest Lawn
Calgary Police Service announced on October 28, 2025, the successful conclusion of a month-long drug trafficking investigation that netted a significant haul of illicit substances and dangerous weapons. The probe, which began in September 2025, culminated on October 17, 2025, with a search warrant executed at a home on 42 Street SE in the Forest Lawn community.
Officers seized over $40,000 worth of drugs, cash, and an alarming array of weapons. This included approximately 402.4 grams of suspected fentanyl, valued at an estimated $40,200 on the street, alongside 11 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 47.3 grams of suspected psilocybin. The substantial fentanyl seizure underscores the ongoing opioid crisis impacting Calgary. Police also recovered $645 in Canadian currency.
The seized arsenal was extensive: multiple real firearms, including specific handgun models like a .22 caliber, a foldable switch, a bulldog pocket, and a Louis Vuitton-handled High Standard 107 Military handgun, along with rifle components and ammunition. Five realistic airsoft handguns, bladed weapons like throwing axes and machetes, a makeshift taser, batons, and brass knuckles were also found. The presence of such diverse weapons, particularly realistic airsofts, poses a serious threat to public and officer safety. Forest Lawn has consistently been among Calgary’s communities with higher reported crime rates.
Two individuals have been charged: Anthony Roy Aransevia, 42, faces multiple counts including possession of fentanyl for trafficking and possessing prohibited firearms. Dakota Cody Ermine, 35, is charged with three counts of possessing a prohibited weapon.
This operation highlights the critical role community involvement plays in keeping Calgary safe, aligning with broader initiatives like "Safer Calgary" that target drug crime.
